Powys War Memorials Project Competitions

 

The Powys War Memorials Project School Poetry Competition June 2019: The winning Welsh and English Poem were judged by the Powys War Memorials Project Board, pictured above. The winning schools were Brecon High School and Ysgol Calon Cymru.

 

The Powys War Memorials Project May 2018: Guess the number of poppies in the curtain of poppies in Powys County Hall. Winner Shaun Morris with the closest number to 56,978 poppies. 

 

The Powys War Memorials Project 2017 quiz closed on Friday 9th June 2017. 

Jo Hammonds who won the first prize of a "My pamper day" at the Lake County House Hotel and Spa in Llangammarch Wells, Powys. Jo's winning tie-breaker was:

"It is important to preserve war memorials because...."

Each unique commemorative monument gives insight to sacrifices made by generations never to be forgotten.

2016 War memorial photography competition

The winner of the under 18 category was Elliot Francis of Howey near Llandrindod Wells with a photograph of the War Memorial statue in New Radnor. Llanidloes photographer Suzanne Ball won the adult category with a photograph of the Llanidloes War Memorial. Other entries are shown below.
